World Mental Health Day, Santagostino’s “health camper” arrives in Rome

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day (Oct. 10), which this year will be dedicated to the theme “Make mental health and wellness for all a global priority“, Santagostino, the first private network of specialist outpatient clinics and the first provider of online psychotherapy in Italy with an accessible model, has taken to the field by organizing a series of initiatives in the Rome area, in its centers throughout Italy and online to raise awareness of the need for people to take care of themselves from the first signs of distress, which in Italy is growing significantly.

According to a survey

According to a survey conducted on a significant sample of the population – consisting of about 6.000 individuals between the ages of 20 and 50 who responded to a questionnaire administered through the Window on the Mind (a publishing project created by the facility’s team of psychotherapists) – 25% of individuals in this age group report significant psychological distress. Pandemic, lockdown, but also economic crisis and Russia-Ukraine conflict, a macroeconomic and geopolitical context of uncertainty, are all factors that are contributing to increasing psychological distress in the economically active population.

It is critical to continue to raise awareness among people that mental health should be a priority and a right, as the well-being of the community as a whole depends on it. Consequently, psychotherapy – and in general all mental health treatments – must become accessible treatments for everyone, from the first signs of malaise. As with all health problems in general, intervening early on emerging issues also allows for better results, preventing the progressive worsening of discomfort and the appearance of actual mental disorders.”, comments the Dr.

Stefano Porcelli, psychiatrist, psychotherapist and head of the psychiatric-psychological-neurological area at Santagostino.

Just to bring attention to the issues of awareness and accessibility to mental health services, Santagostino will be present in Rome, Oct. 11-15, with its “health camper” to offer free psychological counseling guidance, also available at the new Rome Cavour office (Piazza Cavour 19).
